Job Description

The Senior Cost Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Proactively participate in the tender/bid process, from the preparation of initial documentation to detailed analysis and reporting. Oversee the change management process, including identifying, analyzing, approving, and implementing changes that impact project costs. Analyse tenders/bids to ensure the client receives optimal value for money.

Assist in the preparation and agreement of final accounts, handling any claims to ensure the client gets the best value from the completed work. Create detailed estimates and cost plans for major client developments. Monitor project expenditure by preparing valuations and cost reports, and effectively communicate any variations to the team.

Assist in agile project management and informed decision-making through meticulous cost documentation and timely communication. Assist in the settlement of disputes and/or loss and expense claims with transparency and fairness. Mentor and lead team to maintain high performance and to foster growth.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate must hold a degree or equivalent experience in project management or a construction-related discipline and have worked with a consultant as a senior cost manager. They must have experience in pre-contract cost management, including budget control, cost planning, and preparing and initiating change forms for discussion with project stakeholders. Knowledgeable about alternative construction materials. Proven track record of managing cost managers. Chartered or actively working towards chartered status.
