Job Description

The Senior Commercial Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Providing comprehensive risk and governance oversight across Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, focusing on contracts, cost management, and claims leadership. Offering trusted commercial advice to Development and Project Directors. Assisting the senior management team with developing procurement and contract strategies for both existing and new regions within Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan.

Leading the contracts team across the region, serving as the primary point of escalation for all day-to-day matters that are related to ongoing projects. Resolving complex contract interpretation issues and disputes creatively, balancing the objectives of both parties and considering the long-term implications of changes or solutions. Implementing and developing effective and streamlined processes and procedures that account for regional nuances. Developing metrics to quantify performance across all projects.

Leading initiatives focused on commercial lessons learned, innovations, and continuous improvements aimed at enhancing time and cost efficiencies in the delivery of the data centre project. Developing complex business cases and analyses for procurement, new market entry, and claims resolution, presenting findings to senior management. Creating and reviewing tender packages, including developing scope of works, bid templates, tender evaluations, reviews, and recommendations.

Managing multiple projects simultaneously, including new data centre buildings and capital improvement projects associated with existing data centres. Travelling domestically and internationally to data centre sites for project initiation, reviews, audits, constructability assessments, commissioning, and project closeout as required.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidates must have:

A relevant degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a similar field. At least 12 years of work experience in the construction industry. Strong understanding of contract management and administration with a solid grasp of contract law. Exceptional skills in communication, negotiation, contract drafting, and presentation.

Proven track record of directing and influencing multi-disciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes. Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with online collaboration tools. Excellent communication skills in English, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to maintain high-quality standards.

The candidates are preferred to have:

At least 5 years of experience in a commercial leadership role. Proven experience in building and managing a high-performing team. Experience and/or understanding of fast-track design/build projects, specifically data centres. International experience, ideally in the APAC region, with significant exposure to large-scale contracts.
