Job Description
The Mechanical Inspector will act as the Owner’s Engineer, overseeing all aspects of mechanical construction on-site. This includes serving as the primary contact for mechanical supervision, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, and monitoring construction progress. They will build strong relationships with project stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration between clients, contractors, and internal teams.
The role involves reviewing contractor method statements, evaluating timing and phasing of operations, and ensuring compliance with contractual and technical requirements. The inspector will play a key role in implementing risk management strategies, supervising quality control procedures, and driving continuous improvements in safety and construction practices.
They will monitor project progress against schedules, take corrective actions when necessary, and ensure all works align with industry regulations. Additionally, they will review and audit contractual claims, contribute to safety and buildability reviews, and provide technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle. The inspector will mentor junior staff, participate in site meetings, and act as the key liaison between office-based and site-based teams.
Education and Experience
The ideal candidate must have at least five years of experience as a Mechanical Inspector within the power plant sector and be a registered Mechanical Engineer with a valid Professional Regulation Commission License. Experience in mechanical inspections for Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is essential. Strong communication and documentation skills, familiarity with industry standards and mechanical engineering codes, and the ability to work on-site as required are necessary for this role.
