Job Description

The responsibilities of the Deputy Project Director include but are not limited of the following:

Managing and leading a staff responsible for individual, multi-disciplined project solutions for clients, with direct accountability for project delivery. Manage all aspects of project management for assigned projects. Read, understand, and apply standard to complex documents relevant to the projects. Identify project delivery resources from individual project qualification process or from the pre-qualified lists. Perform standard to complex RFPs, complete bid analysis, lead evaluation interviews, and recommend resources to clients.

Communicate and coordinate directly with clients to define project requirements. Prepare work scopes, requirements for project delivery resource, budgets and cost estimates, cash flow, schedule and milestones of work plan, risk identification, and quality control. Lead and guide a large and experienced project delivery team to achieve the project goals. Facilitate project meetings.

Create and implement communication plans to ensure the clients are informed of written reports and/or meetings. Track progress of projects against goals and create effective action plans. Assess change requests to determine how this will impact the scope, budget, schedule, quality, and risk.

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate must have a relevant degree and professional qualification. Must have at least 12 years of experience in building construction and/or A&A works. Data centre experience is preferred to have, along with programme and cost management experience.

The candidate must have excellent written and spoken English communication skills, as well as team and project management skills. Must have outstanding and effective negotiation skills and presentation skills. Must have the ability to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team.

The candidate must have a thorough understanding of Malaysia codes, building codes and guidelines, and best practices. Must have local experience in fast-track projects, preferably with a project management consultant. Needs to have comprehensive understanding of technical interface for and applicable to large-scale construction, design, programme, and budget control.
