Job Description
The Claims Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing and evaluating contractual claims, variations, and disputes arising from construction activities on renewable or hydropower projects. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, this role involves detailed analysis of project documentation, contract terms, and variations to support the successful resolution of claims.
Key responsibilities include:
Preparing claims submissions, assessing and validating costs associated with project delays, and ensuring all claims align with contractual and legal requirements. The Claims Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project managers, legal teams, and subcontractors to negotiate settlements, manage change orders, and mitigate project risks related to claims. This role will also involve providing expert advice on cost recovery strategies and maintaining accurate records of all claims-related activities.
Education and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quantity surveying with a focus on claims and contract management, preferably in the construction or renewable energy sectors. Experience in hydropower or large-scale infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
A Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required, along with strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in claims analysis and relevant software tools is essential, as is the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced project environment.
