Job Description

The Senior Contracts Advisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Ensuring strict adherence to Operating Standards throughout the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on subcontracting requirements. Assisting in developing, implementing, and maintaining strategies and procedures for head contracts, subcontracts, supply chains, and risk management in alignment with company and joint venture standards.

Negotiating and establishing subcontracts for key project packages. Support the creation of claims strategies for head contract issues and major subcontractor claims. Overseeing the administration of subcontracts to maximize project earnings, particularly concerning contentious claims.

Preparing and managing all claims and variations related to compensation and time adjustments under the head contract, ensuring adherence to any conditions precedent. Collaborate with Project Planners to validate that all claims are schedule-compliant and meet head contract and subcontract requirements. Coordinating with in-house and external legal teams on significant legal issues impacting the project.

Managing and resolving all claims with clients and subcontractors/suppliers, adhering to the company and joint venture’s Operating Standards. Working with the project team to review and certify head contract progress payment claims in line with contract deadlines. Providing commercial and contract advice to the project team, managing the head contract and any assigned subcontracts.

Participating in monthly risk and opportunity reviews related to head contract risks. Attending progress meetings with clients and subcontractors as needed to address commercial and contract matters within subcontract deadlines. Supporting insurance management by coordinating with the Insurance and Commercial Advisor to ensure timely notification of insurance claims to company’s brokers. Assisting with the management of any SOP claims from subcontractors.

Education and Experience

The candidates must possess over 8 years of direct experience in senior commercial or contracts management roles on high-value engineering and construction projects. Demonstrated expertise in administering and preparing correspondence and position papers on contractual and commercial matters, with strong analytical and drafting skills.

Capable of working effectively with multiple stakeholders while applying time management and prioritization skills to achieve successful outcomes. A degree in engineering, quantity surveying, law, construction management, or economics (CM&E) is preferred.
